Clinical Trial of SAMe (S. Adenosyl-L-Methionine) for Degenerative Osteoarthropathies



Abstract
SAMe, which has therapeutic action for degenerative arthropathies, is a physiological molec e. It has antiinflammatory and analgesic effects which have proved already in the experimental anim. s and in man.
The author performed case studies for the evaluation of the activity of SAMe and obtained foil swing results.
1. Of the 21 cases with degenerative osteoarthropathies, 6 (28.5%) were male and 15 (71.5%) were f : ale. Most of the cases (85%) were above 50 of age.
2. The improvement of spontaneous pain was observed in 9 (82%) out of the 11 cases.
3. The improvement of tenderness was observed in 12(75%) out of the 16 cases. 4. The improvement of swelling was observed in 5 (71%) out of the 7 cases.
5. The improvement of pain on movement was observed in 16 (76%) out of the total 21 cases. 6. This study proved that SAMe. has therapeutic action in patients with osteoarthropathy.
